Once again Jens has made himself available to come to the New Forest for the fifth year to help my daughter Amy who has Epilepsy, a condition she will have for the rest of her life (unless a cure is found). All the money raised will go to the Epilepsy Society but this year from the sale of items on the day we hope to help two more charities more details to follow.

We have reduced the cost this year to see if we can entice riders that have felt the cost has been too high in the past, but the day is the same with riders in groups of 10 getting to ride with Jens and a maximum field of 120.

After the ride Jens will do a Q&A for about 90 minutes and then the usual signing of items and selfies.

We all look forward to seeing you on September 2nd.

Precision Hydration

New Sponsorship

Precision Hydration are proud to sponsor this year's ride. Below is a little about Precision Hydration and how important it is to stay hydrated when out cycling.

Sodium is crucial to maintaining your performance when you're riding hard

Do you know how much you lose in your sweat. It can vary from as little as 200mg of socium per litre of sweat to as much as 2000mg/l and, if you have a high sweat rate as well, your net sodium losses on the bike can be considerable. Knowing how much you're losing allows you to personalise your hydration strategy and perform at your best.

A number of riders currently out on the Tour de France are using Precision Hydration's multi-strength electrolytes, including AG2R La Mondiale's Jan Bakelants. And we've teamed up with PH to offer you the same personalised hydration plan for your ride in the New Forest.

I strongly suggest you take their free Cycling Sweat Test and read the advice they send through on email. Oh, and if you want to get some electrolytes that match how you sweat, use the code NF15 to get 15% off your first order. (They'll also be some PH to win in the raffle on the big day!).

2018 Sponsorship

We're pleased to announce that Zwift will be sponsoring us in 2018, and will be sending a big team to support the ride. We look forward to working with them then.

Shut Up Legs Charity Ride in the New Forest

Shut Up Legs! Is the way all superstar sportives should be; intimate, equal, leisurely and conversational. 50 miles at Saturday club run pace through the pretty tourist villages of Sway and Burley saw the ride winding its way over heath and through meandering and ponies.

Jens Voight Shut Up Legs Charity Ride in the New Forest

“I did wonder if anyone would think the £100 I was asking for would be too much and people wouldn’t come. I’ve spent most of my adult life raising money for charity, my daughter suffers from epilepsy and learning difficulties and I’ve worked so hard to make this happen to raise money to help others like her”

Shut Up Legs Charity Ride in the New Forest

There are short sharp hills to test the mettle but the big draw is the scenery and the tremendous state of the roads. Certainly, compared to those of the Ladies of the Lakes and Sean Kelly Tour of Waterford or even my home county of Shropshire, the roads that played host the Shut Up Legs! are the deep, shag pile carpet of the sportive world.
